Here’s the re-mixed version of Steve.

During Surge, our teen camp at Newfoundland Adventure Camp we played a game of Sardines, but with a Mic.  Steve hid in the trunk of Nancy’s car and all the campers had to find him.  While they were looking Steven had a cordless mic with him.  This is the hilarity that ensured.

Tidal Impact - Day 7

Well, we had a bit of a tamer day yesterday….sort of. We didn’t lose anyone, or break anything, but our tiredness is starting to make us a bit stupid I think.

Our VBS went well again yesterday.  Every day we are having great conversations with the kids and they are getting more comfortable with use.  It’s also been great that Pastor Brandon has been able to sit and talk with some of the parents while they wait for their kids to finish up.  It’s been a good time of ministry and outreach and I pray that everything we’ve been doing has a lasting impact on this church and it’s community.

After VBS yesterday we took off for a cottage on East Grand Lake for some swimming and tubing.  It was about an hour drive to get to the cottage.  It was pourning rain all day, and it didn’t let off much while we were there.  It didn’t stop us however for having a good time.  It was a nice warm rain (I know…foreign concept) and so it wasn’t too bad.  Andrew Miller did a good job staying on the tube, but eventually got dumped in the middle of the large lake.  It was a bit of a swim for him to get back to the dock, but he eventually drifted in thanks to his life jacket.  The only bad part of our time at the cottage was that I forgot to take the hamburger patties for supper with us.  We brought everything thing else, but no burgers.  We loaded up and went back to the church and made some burgers and nachos for supper.  We were pretty hungry by the time we got to eat.

After supper we divided up and got in our vans and started our food drive. It was pretty cool to be part of the food drive knowing that over 1000 other people were doing the same thing in the Woodstock and Fredericton areas.  We followed what was going on through twitter and were able to give the youth encouraging feedback of what other people were esperiencing.  Tweets like “Fredericton food bank managers expecitations were exceeded with just our first drop off of food” made it easy to knock on every door in Hartland collecting food.  Oh, remember how I said it was just pouring rain all day?  Well, funny thing about that.  Just as we got ready to start walking in the rain it stopped, the clouds parted and the sun came out! It’s always a good reminder of how God is in control.

We brought in a lot of food. We will weigh it this afternoon and let you know how much we brought in and how much it was in total.

Please be in prayer today as we finish up our week.  We have a public rally tonight that we’ve been inviting the community to.  Pray that there is a good turn out, and that people’s lives will be changed when they meet God there. Pray also for our team members.  Everyone is exhusted.  Pray that the youth stay attentive to their jobs, that the leaders have paitence and love, and that the drivers get some rest this afternoon for our long drive tomorrow.

Here’s some pics from today.\

So I kind of lost your kids….

Umm….so I kind of lost your kids yesterday at #TI2011.  In my defense it was day 5, and honestly handing onto them all this long was doing well. It’s hard to explain what happened. Last night I had them all in the parking-lot outside the arena.  We were all there dancing to some jigs and reels, then the doors open, they went in, and I haven’t seen them since.  Can’t find them anywhere.  Maybe I should back up a bit and tell you the whole story.

Tidal Impact - Day…what day is it?

It’s that time of the week where i begin to forget what day it is. Oh #Ti2011…  Fatigue is really begining to set in for everyone.  We had such a great day on Tuesday though it makes it all worth while.

We had our second day of VBS.  We saw a few more kids come today which is always encouraging.  What’s even more encouraging is the relationships that our youth have already developed with some of the kids.  It never ceases to amaze me how a small investment in a kid seems to make such a large difference.  From watching our youth console crying children to playing silly games it’s all about getting to know them and loving them like God loves us.

We bought the youth some chocolate covered insects to see what would happen.

Tidal Impact Day 4

Our fourth day at #TI2011 was simply amazing!  Even after the first day of real work we ave seen God working in some ways around us.

The morning was all about Vacation Bible School.  We were to the church by 8:00 (well, most of us…) where we went over our schedule and had a time of prayer together.  Each day a different youth is sharing a bit of scripture with us for our devotional.
